There are some who believe that all will eventually come to accept God.

Do you agree?

Disagree?

I think nearly every unbeliever on this board will have no problem with agreeing that some believers think that all will eventually come to accept god (their particular version of course).

I doubt it.

And I'm reasonably certain the Creator doesn't give a flying fig whether they ever do or not.

Depends of your definition of God. If you mean the patriarch of the Old Testament, no. If you mean will people come to know the concept of "we are all related" probably not. There will be many who do not accept anything but hard cold facts proven through the scientific method. There are many of us who know the creator and understand that the organizations that purport to be spokesmen for "God" are in actuality charlatans seeking to control. As a spiritual person I doubt I will ever feel connected to the "God" that is worshiped in most religions.

Which version?

There are not doubt plenty of Muslims who believe that all unbelievers (and what they perceive as wrong believers) will eventually come to accept the God of the Quran.

Plenty of ancient Greeks probably thought the same of Zeus, and plenty of Viking-Age Scandinavians probably thought of same of Thor.

In all such cases, past and present, it's little more than an exercise in self-absorption to think that of ones chosen deity.

If we agreed, we wouldn't be unbelievers.

Given that there is a lot of unknown out there and some kind of cosmic Mind is still very possible, God - the very specific god of the Bible, and thus of all the Religions of the book and their various spin -offs - will eventually come to be seen as a myth, and a rather ludicrous one about a rather nasty Deity.

The evidence is all there and it is just a case of making it generally known, and overcoming entrenched Belief and even tougher, the identification of religious belief with Patriotism.

The only way that would ever happen is if God (whatever that is) crawled out of his Saddam Hussein spider-hole and revealed himself in a very convincing manner.

The problem here is that God is going to wait around too long - before you know it, we'll have holographic emitters and other high-tech toys that can mimic a God rather convincingly. If God lollygags around too long, nothing God can do will really convince the skeptics.

And we are skeptics for a reason - this isn't some defiance issue. That reason has to be overcome before we just jump onboard the God bandwagon.

So, assuming there is a God who actually does give a TroutDude fig about our souls, he better get off his duff and start doing something to earn them.
