And I never felt the need to go on a message board and characterize Loki as being blood thirsty and evil. The only thing you are showing me here is deep down, you have a hatred for God which means you know God exists but you don't want to face that reality.
In all reality, it is you who has a GREAT hatred for god. You are terrified that you cannot have god all to yourself. The idea of sharing your god causes cold sweats at night and tremors during the day.
You are terrified that after all the self-sacrificing acts and thoughts and prayers you have offered that God may really be understood with just LOVE--nothing more.
That is the FEAR that drives the fundie imagination. That they will not be the BEST hater of the world, the greatest oppressor of MAN and the one with he most self-inflicted scars on their mind and body.
The single most greatest fear the fundie has is the PRODIGAL SON syndrome. ABSOLUTE TOTAL fear that one of two things will be painfully apparent in the end--
1. That all their denial of self and crappy living will have all been for naught when EVERYONE who seeks god in the end is forgiven and they did all that nonsense for nothing.

For the fundie, all they work for is APPROVAL from god, the opportunity to reign in some imaginary city, and to have some wonderful medal made of gold pinned to their chest as they stand atop the mass of bodies they have left behind in their mad desire to be god's anointed.
WAKE UP! There has been over 800 MILLION people that has come before you and I am sure the standard has been set so FAR ABOVE you that even your very best of the best will fall short of impressing god.
God does not desire our sacrifice. He has no need of our wealth. He rejects our assimilation.
What he wants, nay what he DEMANDS is already understood by each and everyone of us..unfortunately only a few are willing to accept it and even less believe and live by it.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Sometimes the truth gets buried by the desire to impress others and demonstrate our worthiness. When in reality all it really takes is a four-letter word..

It has nothing to do with earning approval. Those whose view of God as someone who seeks obedience and other submissions are the only ones who think that way, Richard. This life is not about pleasing or appeasing God. It is about developing and maturing our Spirits sufficiently to be "born again" as Spirits upon our death - NO approval or disapproval involved.
