According to the County Health Rankings it seems Utah has a very, very high rate of illicit drug use deaths.
For example, Carbon County in rural Utah has a drug death overdose rate of 54 per 100,000 residents.
Tooele County which is a suburban Salt Lake County has a rate of 29 per 100,000.
Weber and Salt Lake County have a rate of 24 per 100,000 residents for drug overdose death rates.
Cass County in North Dakota which is a snowy place with cold winters has a rate of 4 per 100,000 for drug overdose deaths.
Compared to Los Angeles County that has a rate of 7 per 100,000.
Basically, Salt Lake has a drug overdose death rate that is over 3 times higher then Los Angeles County and 6 times higher then Fargo. North Dakota

The drug problem is so bad in Mormon-based Salt Lake City that the city of 190,000 has always 354 robberies in the first 8 months of the year and they had 479 robberies last year.

Glendale, California which is a larger city in Los Angeles they had 67 robberies even Compton only had 353 robberies.
Utah also has a huge suicide issue compared to other states.
