What is your interpretation of Genesis 1:26? Is it a reference to the Elohim?

John 10:34 was my first clue. If you don't buy the theory from that verse alone, then there is nothing more I could tell you.
If you do buy it, then you could start with Genesis 1:1 reading from that perspective. Just the first few chapters before Abraham is enough, but I think it goes beyond that also. The gods of Genesis is one thing.
On the other hand, the God of the wisdom literature is the true creator. Not to be confused with the false one. God was Adam's father, remember.

Put simply, getting close to God raises a person's state of being from base animal to an awakened soul. A spiritual upheaval occurs and not so much they see the light as by that light they see themselves as they are and the world as it is.
