'Starving yogi' astounds Indian scientists

Not eating or drinking for extended periods or does the article make you believe he has not eaten for last 70 years? Never the less it is very bizarre, and makes me go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

I think that believing that story would put you in the running for the gullibility of the year award.

Sanal Edamaruku of the Indian Rationalist Association claimed to have been repeatedly denied sending an independent team to survey the room where Jani was held. He also claimed that "this particular hospital, led by this particular doctor, keeps on making these claims without ever producing evidence or publishing research." The Indian Rationalist Association also said that individuals making similar claims have all reportedly been exposed as frauds.

Yup these people are all FAIL.

I believe monks are some of the few groups of people on earth that can do extraordinary things with their bodies. But nothing as outrageous as not eating for 70 yrs!

Well, my boyfriends Mother is a Hatha Yoga teacher who incorporates fasting into her routine, but never for extremely long periods of time.

70 years? HA.

"50-year-old doctor of traditional Chinese medicine sets a new world record of 49-day fast to beat last years 44-day record set by American magician, David Blaine.
On March 20, 2003, Chen Jianmin of Luzhou City, Sichuan Province went into a specially-constructed 15 square meter glass room in Ya’an City to begin his 49-day fast. In the room, built halfway up the mountain of Bifengxia Valley, Chen was allowed to drink only water. He could not leave the room or have food.

The fast was to "attest to the regimen of traditional Chinese medical science" and challenge the world record set by American magician, David Blaine."
