I've operated my business for 10 years starting out when i was 15. Now i'm getting married and we're moving to Sparks. We have family in town so i'm sure i can get referrals through them in the begining. But i'm looking to do some advertising initially as well.

I would like to know if you guys and gals have any advice for me, it would be greatly appreciated. Where do you look for people to perform services on your house? How much do you pay for various services?

Typically i charge $25-35 an hour which is far below other companies in my area. Can i expect to be able to maintain this rate?

Any and all insight and advice is welcome.

thanks guys

first thing you BEST get a lic. in NV to do handyman work. because they police have cracked down hard an now have a under cover unit investigating anyone who puts ads up for automotive or for handyman work especially.

Keep in mind that a lot of people are out of work and have taken it upon themselves to start their own business such as handyman so you are going to have a lot of people to charge a lot less then the rates you posted.

a lot of wise consumers are now using Doctor Reviews & Contractors Ratings - Find a Doctor or General Contractor | Angie's List over craigslist: dallas / fort worth classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events since you can read feed back of others how use the advertised users services. unlike craigslist were there are no refferences or comments.

Call the ads you see advertised that have the best reff. and ask them what they charge for jobs that you do and get an idea of what you can expect to be paid for your work. IF you decide to open a legit company.
