In confused by this story saying someone bought a winning Powerball lottery ticket at Gold Ranch in Verdi
https://www.kolotv.com/content/news/...564530131.html

I didn't think Nevada participated in any lottery. This place is in Nevada, right?

You must be new to the area, or don't know the area well. It is about a 20 min drive West from downtown. It is on the CA side but the closest place to buy them from Reno.

You're correct. Nevada doesn't have a lottery. The casino is in Nevada but the lottery sales are in the back of the property in California. The back of the property is on the state-line.

Inside the Gold Ranch lottery building. Tickets are purchased on the CA side. There can be long lines when the lottery gets towards a billion or more.
