My husband and I are about to relocate to the Seattle area along with his brother and his wife. We have two children and they have none. Due to high housing costs there, and in order to have good sized home and yard for the kids, we'd like to rent a home all together for the first year, just to get a feel for teh city and have some time to save money for a place of our own. DOes anyone know if landlords frown on this type of arrangement? We would be looking for a good size home 4 + bedrooms and 2500+ sq. feet. Any information would be appreciated.

THANKS!!!

I would not think this would be a problem. You are all related and are looking at renting a larger place. Many communities have limits on the number of unrelated people that can live in the same house but rarely, if ever, do they limit the number of related people living together. As long as you make it clear that there are six people going to be living there, most landlords will not really care either. Jay

Default Re: Multiple family renters

Not from Seattle..............but I wear many hats...........one bein a landlord..........wouldnt see it as a problem..........dependin on supply and demand it shouldnt be difficult to find something reasonable...........try the local community newspapers of the area your interested in.............and always keep in mind, your dealin with another human being not just a landlord..............often this is an opportunity for an investment for regular people that decided to take a chance in making some extra pocket change...........if you pay the rent of time, keep the place in good condition, respectful of your neighbours and local laws, and are not too annoying.................that's all we want.................my tenants are goin on their 4th year and i couldnt be happier...................their rent has Not gone up
