I am looking for some help answering a question I have. My LL put a notice on my door stating they may be entering my apartment for an inspection on Wednesday, May 21 beginning at 10am. No one ever showed up today though. This means that in order to enter at a later date, they will need to give me another notice, correct? I have no issue with them entering of course, but I prefer to be home and I would like to not be sleeping or half naked when they do come. Also, if they state they're going to come sometime after X time and they come when my kid is sleeping, do I have to let them in my kid's room (which would mean waking her up)? I'd imagine I would since it says they cannot make special arrangements on the letter they sent me but I'd be a little peeved if they woke up my toddler during nap time.
There is an incredibly easy solution to your problem - call your landlord now and (a) tell him that nobody came to do the inspection as yet today and (b) discuss your request re timing so your child isn't disturbed.
They're closed for the day :/ I simply wanted to know if they could legally come on a different day such as tomorrow because the letter was kind of open ended by saying they will come after 10am on May 21. After 10am on May 21 could be 3pm on May 26 for all I know. But, I wasn't sure if a LL was allowed to give such a blanket statement.
If I know they can come tomorrow, then I'll just be ready for them tomorrow. And yes, then I can call the rental office and ask as well :P But until they open tomorrow, I'd rather not have some man walking into my apartment while I'm indecent.

No there is no open ended. Notice is normally for that stated date/day during what is considered working hours. If they want to enter again they would need to give notice again

Thank you That's all I needed to know. I was having trouble Google'ing an answer on this one.
Legally they might be able to have the right to enter since it was kind of left open but I'm not a lawyer.
On the other hand it is kind of a way to make a good relationship go bad and something we would never do since I would hate it myself and no longer having the feeling that you have any privacy by not having a clue when they will come.
How big is the building that they can't give you a shorter window of showing up and why was there an inspection?
We always advise owners to limit inspections as much as possible since it will **** off tenants...oops sorry for the language but it is the truth and all that will come from that is that tenants will start to complain more about certain things they. Or ally would not mention since now they have a face to face and easy way to tell you about an item while otherwise they have to call or email about the issue and now it saves them time.
