I agree to put up a sign. I had to do this in the last place I lived, because I moved into a unit that was the drinking friend of another drunk in my building. Nice guy overall, but a big drinker. He'd get drunk and think that his old friend still lived in my apartment. And he'd knock and knock and knock in the middle of the night, presumably when the bar next door closed and kicked him out.

I put a note on the door and used the biggest font I could that said "DO NOT KNOCK" and under it in small font - "Unless you are management or a delivery driver." I also had to disconnect the door bell.

Part of my frustration, is that it would set my dog to barking, which I was afraid would disturb my neighbors. So, I also complained to the management. Not sure if they ever said anything to him, but he quit knocking. I just wanted to be proactive in case my neighbors started complaining about my dog barking in the middle of the night.

In your case, I'd put the words "POLICE!" in a huge font LOL. Like:

POLICE!

will be called if you knock on this door!

unless you are the police or management or I'm expecting you.

The word POLICE! in huge letters should make them knock it off. I'd also tell management that it's happening. If the building is a locked building, they may want to know this is happening, so they can look at the security tapes. Someone might be letting them in, or telling them the code to get in, etc. If your building is secured.

I wouldn't move at this point. Word should get around to leave you alone.

Since you had a bad feeling and didn't follow it...please get the book 'The Gift of Fear'
by Gavin Debecker...it may save your life one day...
then pass it on to every girl you know.

Please walk with pepper spray on your key ring. Take care...

LOL, yeah, that approach works too - don't be nice. I'm glad you said you would call the cops. Who knows, maybe they have crushes on you. Best to not be approachable.

I used to have people knock on my doors for favors. You don't want to be one of the "approachable ones."

If there's new management that's trying to clean the place up have you tried talking to them about the problem? They might be interested in helping solve your problem.

That's a great idea and you can explain the reason you are putting up a sign so they will be aware of what's going on with that as well. Good luck OP!

Just put a sign on your door...Previous tenant moved. Do not knock, it disturbs my rottweilers. I personally wouldn't put anything on a sign about calling the cops...you don't know what kind of people you are dealing with. I'd just call the cops if needed.

Management is useless. I honestly dont want to involve them or let my neighbors knows that i am actually going through this. As i stated in my previous post my downstair neighbor is likely to be involved in illegal activities. It seems like management claim that they are cleaning up but most of people here look shady.
There was someone showed up yesterday morning i looked through my door and didnt open. I feel like this downstair neighbor has been doing it because he is trying to talk to me all time i am leaving my apt but on many instances i have ignored him so he is trying to get reaction out of me. Also, i saw this person going directly downstairs after i didnt open my door. But i will call cops if this continued..

Exactly, but i think everyone around me knows that i dont have dog. As i stated in my post i suspect that my downstairs neighbor is involved in illegal activities. He has been trying to talk to me and introduce himself and stuff but i have ignored him everytime so i feel like its him who is sending people over to my place to get my reaction. Similar happened yesterday morning i saw someone knocking on my door i didnt open and person directly went downstairs. If this happens anymore i am calling cops..
