Hi everyone,
So my husband and I have been living in this complex for a year and we recently transferred to our new unit a few months ago. Since then it's been hell...
1. Neighbors upstairs fight constantly and have the cops in and out
2. Recent drive by shooting to the neighbors upstairs
3. Recent window-smashing to the car parked next to mine
4. Mail has been torn and stolen; and we have been waiting for important mail and checks (my husband's employer is old-school.)

What are my rights as a tenant in Houston, TX? I've been looking through the lease and I'd like in anyone's expertise or experiences if the following issues above could allow us to end a lease early?

Thanks in advance!

So one side of thecomplex was pleasant and the other side is a crime scene?

Did you just sign a new lease or is your 1st years lease nearly up.

That's the risk you take when you transfer out of one unit and into a different one. There is no guarantee that your neighbors will be better.

I doubt that crime started in the neighborhood just a few months ago and that the other side of the building is still crime free
