Well, according to the article the cut is about 1%, which makes the headline a tad misleading because 1% is not much of a cut. I think I can believe that while awaiting further confirmation and clarification. Many Medicare Advantage Plans may be positioning themselves to comply with the regulation which will eventually require them to spend a certain percentage of the amount they receive from Medicare on the actual health care of their members. In other words it will require them to become more efficient. Who knows what will eventually happen to these plans; I believe 2011 will be pretty much status quo. And we will know pretty soon because our 2011 premium amounts will have to be disclosed to us before the opening of the change of enrollment window on November 15.
