I know many who started retirement while still bring paid to Work From Home. Unofficially of course.

Loss of the Work From Home option should prove to be an interesting transition for many employees and employers.

BTW - retirement is great!

Not for the people I know who still happen to be working. They just returned to their employer's worksite. Their retirement plans didn't change.

I wish it did...I'm not looking forward to going back in to work, even though my commute is minimal. But I need to work for another 5 years...sigh.

Absent medicare (age 65 etc) rather few can afford to leave their jobs.
Covid, WFH etc have NO BEARING on this reality.

From what I gather reading the Retirement forum, quite a few are eligible, but it usually takes some impetus to make them pull the trigger...

very true - Retirement forum posters are definitely NOT a microcosm nor representative sample of all retirees nor those close to retirement nor on their way to retirement nor those older but not yet retired.

I would never take anything I read in Retirement forum to be representative of or a microcosm of any question, any reality, any set of opinions, any life choices.

Yet some people seem to base some or many of their opinions upon what they read in Retirement forum.

And I don't think being 'well-heeled' even begins to encompass why postings and posters on Retirement forum are not a representative sample.

Our 2 DBAs put in for retirement after we started back at the office. Scary as hell as they are both critical employees. At least one is waiting until June to leave - hopefully we'll have their replacements by then. But SO much knowledge is walking out the door.
