My husband and I make $2883.92 a month, retirement and SS. Is that enough to move to a place in FL and live off the grid ?? It seems like over half of you all have so much more money than we do. Granted, we didn't plan really good because we went on vacations a lot when other people were working toward a long term goal Well, we both did not think we would be around to spend our retirement. But, here we are. Now, we just want a nice quiet secluded place in FL. Not the Villages or Black Diamond....just a simple nice trailer with electricity and running water. I want chickens, and maybe a mini goat. Maybe even a milk cow. That is all I can think about. I am not contented nor settled now. We know about FL good and bad. We spent our money vacationing in FL on and off for 44 years so we know that areas. Any, is this enough money to "get by"on. Thank you all so much.

What do you mean by off the grid. Living with electricity and running water is the opposite of it.
I am trying to say this in a kindly manner but why don't you just look up all your many previous posts asking the same question...some from before you went there and some since you've returned.

If you are planning to live off the grid, how will you be getting your electricity and running water? I'm not familiar with Florida, but around here, it is very, very expensive to acquire and set up the equipment to provide your own electricity (even solar) and to have a well drilled and lined and a pump installed.

That's enough to live just about anywhere, depending on your budgeting. Any savings?

"My husband and I make $2883.92 a month, retirement and SS."

What does retirement mean? Are you collecting SS now?

What are your monthly expenses?

IMHO, the place is not as important as answering these questions.

No you can't. It's very expensive startup to eventually "live off grid".
Electricity and running water don't' constitute "off grid" as I'm assuming here hookup to municipal water and the electric company.

Find yourself a non-tourist town and rent a moderately priced apartment.

That's the same as making $16/hour so many people get by while working on that so you should be fine to get by.

Many here are saying it's enough.
The OP wants to live off grid. Did you not see that ?

That's solar panels, wind turbines, inverters, well, septic, battery bank, etc.
None of that is cheap by any means.
Total costs, not including building a home, run upwards of $30,000.

Want to get off the grid? It'll cost you - - MSN Money

No, I do not see it. I believe the op does not know what the phrase 'off the grid" means and all her pervious posts about the same exact thing indicates that she just wants "the simple life"...not the adventurous one of 'living off the grid".

On your next trip to Florida I suggest you visit some of the areas just out side of Live Oak, Fl. There are areas there in the county but close to town that would fit your needs.
