Hi there, looking for small, safe, pretty city to retire to. Looking for a place with low crime, pretty scenery, affordable housing, and a place that is easy to make friends and to date, as a single male. I have looked at places like Berea KY, Galena IL, Bellingham WA, Ocala FL, Rapid City SD, Tri Cities TN, Concord NH, and etc.....I am all over the map, and really have no idea where could work just yet. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

How are you defining "small city"? I think that is the first thing we all need to know. Population?

You don't give your age, so this is somewhat of a hip shot.

Tri Cities is probably not your best bet unless you are very conservative and church going. Only about 100 miles from me, BTW.

Ocala is a retirement town. More retired women than men. We tend to die too fast, leaving a surplus of ladies. Hotter than the hubs of hell in the summer and cold enough in the winter that you will have to double check to make sure you are still in Florida. But overall, not a bad place to retire to. Housing is reasonable.

The others are unknowns to me as far as your particular requirements go.

Why all the asterisks in the beginning?

I don't know, I guess a like 10,000 people to like 150,000. Yea I guess FL kind of concerns me, due to the extreme heat, not really a huge heat lover. Could never figure out what people saw in Florida. But I am sure all the water is nice. Would consider anywhere though, if nice enough.

Funny article, I am not in my 60' s' though....might be too elderly for me there. Looks like the ol whipper snappers are having a heck of a time. I like the female to male odds though, wish it were like that here in the PNW.

Easy to find. Small, safe, pretty, cheap city with lots of culture and ametities, and lots of willing, available gorgeous women. Heck, just name your climate and the world, and the women in it, are your oyster, because with a charming personality and attitude like yours, how can you lose wherever you go?

West Des Moines, Iowa if you don't mind winters. A suburb of Des Moines, Iowa. Total metro population is around 500,000, but WDM is a smaller city of about 60,000. In general everything you need is in WDM. A very well run city that barely noticed the recent recession.

We moved from there last year for retirement (I have health problems that require dry air). While looking at places to retire we kept saying we wanted to pick up the entire city and move it to an environment that my body appreciates.
