Too bad they packed my checkbooks when I forgot to move them, but I'll squeak through to a new account in Colorado.
Just got the good news that my Medicare B will be $80/month less than max because I have retired, despite my higher income when working.
Mostly everything is wrapped and packed. I've never had a "real" move before. Always moved a short distance and stuff wasn't all wrapped and packed. Even with clearing things out, I still feel like I have a lot of stuff. More than my studio apartment days (up to age 42!) and should be just right for the new house in Colorado. Which should be almost finished and I'm moving in when I get there no matter what (April 22 or 23). Stuff won't arrive until at least April 28.
I already have a chiropractic appointment lined up, after all, driving 2200 miles is likely to feel rough. I have an appointment with the person I think will be my new doc. Found that there aren't that many docs in the area (Ridgway/Montrose) and many are not taking new patients or Medicare, which kicked in for me April 1. I picked a woman (preferred) doctor who graduated in 2009, so her practice isn't full up and I hope she's up on whatever is happening in medicine, you know, modern-like.
I am dining out daily on this move. I should move more often. Yesterday was Vietnamese lunch, tonight is Italian (with my health care proxy). Tomorrow is diner, Monday Mexican, and then Tuesday fancy New England with my transporters. We hit the road early Wed. morning.
The packers made it all look so easy! Pleasant, fast and sturdy young men. Very professional. I am so happy that I have enough money to pay for services when I want them. To me, money makes me feel safe that I can pay for attractive roof over head and services when needed. The movers take everything on Monday. The pups and I will sleep on a pad on the floor (good practice for our first week in Colorado).
BDL -- This is so exciting!!! The move is finally here!!! I will say a prayer for you for safe health & travels, and I hope you enjoy your trip, with good travelling weather. And the pups, I wonder what they are thinking???? They most definitely know something big is up!!!
I will be watching to hear about your trip --- Hollyhock
BTW, hopefully you will not need a chiropractor just for a cross country drive. I do it frequently. If you car seat does not fit properly get some towels or a sweatshirt or two and put some padding where needed for good support. Stop and stretch for a few minutes every few hours and you should have no issues.
I am so happy for you! Another new adventure, a new season in life. Please, look ahead, not back. You are making new memories. I did the same thing. My marriage of 35 years broke up in 2011, I was alone for the first time in my life (went from Mom to husband at age 17). Now, 7 years later, I am successfully on my own. I only get angry or sad if I look back at my life, so my "pep talk" whenever I "go there" is "moving on"........
We both only have great adventures ahead of us. Enjoy the ride (pun inteneded, LOL).
Don't know where you are going, but I just read I70 is closed due to winter conditions. Be safe out there!
