Nor should there be. The increase in the cost of living measured through the CPI is extremely low. Now, I can't wait for all the people who say that "the government figures are a lie" to speak up.

The difference is that we are now only days away from the release of the official determination and it still looks like no COLA.

If threads rehashing topics were disallowed, I would say about 80% of threads in the Retirement Forum would be out of order.

Sometimes the rehashing of subjects gets old, but every now and then something new comes up or someone phrases something in a different way and a light bulb comes on...

Portland average rents just increased an average 15 percent from August 2014 through August 2015, according to a firm called Axiometrics.

A huge problem with CPI is that cost of living and inflation are experienced quite differently by unmortgaged homeowners, by homeowners with mortgages, and by renters. Not to mention that they are experienced quite differently across Mircea's 3,538 (?) local economies.

The quality goes in before the light bulb comes on.

In this case though the OP is goading people to post their rants against the government figures.
I don't think he honestly wants to discuss the lack of COLA.

It appears you don't want to either.

At the moment, I feel that inflation is quite tame.

Instead, we are dealing with deflation, which is quite another thing.

There will always be some things that are costing more...and always some folks on limited or low incomes, that feel compelled to complain about it. They should learn to budget better.

??? ??? ??? ???

I think most people living on poverty level incomes are already budgeting pretty well.'
