I started getting Social Security last month. I just got a nasty little letter telling me that I will be required to pay more for Medicare because I made too much money in the past. This was one thing I didn't anticipate to be frank and it is rather annoying that I am required to pay more for exactly the same service because I have been successful. Dollar wise it is not a lot of money but as a percentage of what I pay for Medicare it is a huge increase. The government just cannot get enough of punishing the successful. I guess I am just getting the privilege of paying for the unproductive. My rant for the day.

Get real, we are all coming out ahead on Medicare and that's why the fund is running short. Paying more doesn't bother me as it reflects my more comfortable than normal retirement finances. Better to pay and have than to moan and have it collapse. That would be a really big bill and hit to both of our finances if we had to provide our own old age health care.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Obamacare. The tiered system of Medicare Part B premiums based on income has been in place for many years, long before Congress passed the Obamacare legislation. You should be embarrassed to be spouting such nonsense.

I gave this post second thought and I can see what you are saying, so I propose the following resolution. Anyone who feels it is unfair that they are billed more per month for Medicare should resolve to live longer than all those lower income retirees paying less. Collectively band together and outlive the moochers and help drain the fund and get more out than those not living as long. Heck if we all can hang on til our mid 90's and cut services to those on limited income and can help lower their life expectancy even more and keep more of the Medicare fund for ourselves! Now that sounds like a plan if only we can find supporters to implement it. Any suggestions?

I give up on trying to explain it to people, especially if they purposefully show disrespect for President Obama by mangling and not capitalizing his name.
