Wow! I want to work 250 days so that I can get paid for eight holidays. Such a great bargain.
I think that I will pass.
Personally when i was working, I always tried to work most holidays so that I could get the time off when I wanted to take it. Who wants a Monday off in January and February when the weather is so bad?

Good response. Your first comment gave me a chuckle. Days off are kind of a reward for working. If you don't work, you get the reward all the time.
I used to to the same with time off. I didn't mind trading off holidays for days that had better weather.
It seems self-evident that retired people don't worry about getting paid or not getting paid for holidays (nor do they work between holidays). On the other hand, workers who write more-better English and understood the use of apostrophes - are likely to get paid more for the days they do work.
... Finally, everyone, whether they are working or retired, grows a day older every day.
What is the point of this thread and why take a backhand poke a retirees?
Time and a half Wednesday into Thursday for those of us who work third shift. Next year will be my last working holiday(s) before retirement. I am always glad to work so someone who really wants it off can have it off. Also, it gives me leverage if I want something unusual off (like an extra week in the summer or something).

If you have the correct retirement income sources (most) you still get paid for holidays, but no more 'triple time'.
Holidays were always my FAVORITE time to take a few extra shifts.
NO bosses on holidays was an additional perk.!
Many customers / clients APPRECIATED you working holidays (that was more than you were appreciated normal shift)
yes, terribly sad some people have to work 5 DAYS / week 9-5.
Rule one: I don't do stop lights
Rule two: I don't EVER work during daylight (I like to farm / be outdoors during daylight and work J-O-B-S during the dark.)
Rule three: If you are an axe murder, you are expected to work nights
Rule four: If you work nights, you are likely an axe murderer
Axe murderers need holidays too
If you get triple time for working Holiday, you will have plenty of pennies in the bank if you want to take a few weeks off without pay, when the weather is nice, and crowds are light.
Okay, since I don't get paid by an employer and my funds come from savings and SS, I'm kind of "self-employed." I think I'll pay myself a time-and-a-half for Thanksgiving day.
