I treated it like an average. Many weeks I don't go anywhere at all. I grocery shop once a month. Then I hop in the car and do 600 miles in 2 days, but I don't' do that every month. I'm only 15 miles out of town, so that's about 2 gallons round trip, including in-town driving.
I've put nearly 9000 miles in 8 months on my new car, mostly on road trips throughout the southwest. I estimate the fuel to be 10-12 gallons a week. Between trips I don't drive that much.
Okay, I finally am able to answer the poll question on this one... after saving my last two gas fill-up receipts, something I normally never do, LOL
In 22 days I used 12.196 gallons which comes out to 0.55 gallon/day, x 7 = 3.88 gallons per week. Since the only adjacent poll choices were 3 and 5 gallons, I rounded up to 5.
However, this is also the "higher mileage" time of year, i.e., when I'm not using the air conditioning in the car. My average MPG for the non-summer months is between 20 and 21 mpg. During the summer it averaged between 18 and 20 mpg, thus my weekly usage is probably 5 gallons then.
So now I know a bit of trivia about my driving habits that I didn't before.
We use very little gas. We go to the farmer's market, grocery store for a few things weekly and to the Dr. about 4 times per year between us. I'd say less than a gallon a week, most likely even for 2 weeks.
