I have a chance to move from one Carolina to another (SC to NC, if that's important) and I am wondering what issues there may be with both Social Security disability and Medicare if I do move.

The only thing I encountered moving from Minnesota to Arizona was my plan d. I had to choose a different plan as my Minnesota one didn't cover Arizona. I had help with the decision from the Area Agency on Aging.

Changing social security was a snap. Just call the 800# and they'll help. I found that calling before 8am I was able to leave a call back number and was called shortly after they opened. Calling after they open I was put on hold for up to an hour, which I didn't do.

Just keep calling until you have the option of having them call you.

Most insurance agents in NC handle health insurance. I'd suggest calling one or two for the best information. AARP United Healthcare is the most popular and efficient here; and there are several supplemental plans as well if you need one. I believe the Social Security disability is a federal benefit, not state by state.
