Would really appreciate some information about rentals - AirBnB, Hotels, Condos - in the Ft.lauderdale area. We are considering 2 weeks sometime in March. Would like to be near the beach. Budget is flexible, we are looking for a nice, safe, area.

Where should I look? We are not particular about Ft.Lauderdale, it is just the starting point because we will be there for a conference and looking to spend a couple of weeks after.

Thank you.

Well I am surprised no one has replied yet. I am not too familiar with Ft L so maybe others feel the same. I would definitely post this in the Florida forums and I am sure you will get more info there (maybe more than you want )

Yes, as already pointed out, try posting this in the Fort Lauderdale section of the Florida forum if you haven't already done so. There's nothing really unique in your question about retirement and I bet you get some good informative responses.

Speaking strictly for myself -- I've found Lauderdale/Miami/Palm Beach to be a little too busy.....especially around Spring Break. I like the vibe just a little farther to the north, we've been exploring around St Lucie and such. Try booking a Hotel until you get the lay of the land. This could become an annual trip !!

Last September We looked at this in a variety of Florida areas for a January, February or March rental. Our preference was one month. These were some of the reasons it was unworkable:

1. The nicer and/or well priced rentals were already booked. Often with the same tenants year after year. (Note I said "well priced." Anything that MIGHT be considered 'cheap' was crap.)
2. Most wanted renters for a minimum of 3 months.
3. The majority did not allow pets. Those that did usually had a 15 pound limitation.
4. The cost was WAY WAY WAY higher than we ever expected. Especially when you add in the car rental.

March is peak snowbird season in south Florida. The sooner you start looking the better. Many of the better places are already booked.

We own a condo on Galt Ocean Dr in Ft Lauderdale. That's the area I recommend. Just south of Lauderdale By The Sea.

Shopping, restaurants, outdoor concerts. We love it.

Smile Fort Lauderdale

Where is the conference?

Do you want to be on the water?

So many options - single family home, townhome, condo?
