Have you made any major mistakes in your life that resulted in you being where you are today? Do you think they changed your life for the better? Or do you regret not going the other way that you passed up for one reason or another?
I've made some mistakes that greatly affected how my life went. And at my age of 77, I don't really see anything getting better. So I'm stuck.
What's your story?
Yep, took a job transfer to another state, regretted immediately. Took 12 years to undo.
And there was one phone call I wish I had never answered. Still dealing it.
but see - that job transfer decision in the end was still "undone". Took 12 years but it happened
I have too many pets, but i calculate they will all have crossed the bridge in ten years! Rash heartfelt decisions will then be "undone"!
My guess is not everyone has your viewpoint. I think this is the U.S. isn't it?
Reminds me of a woman I thought was my friend until she found out I liked the "other" candidate. Boy, she had a lot of words to call me. I don't miss that one bit.
Sure, in my late 20's I was working for a company that was rumored to be bankrupt. No raises, nothing on the horizon. I saw the chance to jump ship to a different company that seemed to have a bright future. New sleek building, good reputation. I took a lateral move just to get my foot in the door. 6 months later I realized I had made a huge mistake. The new company had bet on a bunch of technical equipment that did not work well and everybody knew it. Suddenly no raises, and it was a mess. My previous company? They got a new partner and inflow of cash. My old co-workers ALL got an across the board raise. I felt like a total idiot. That company is still doing fine to this day. The company I jumped ship for? Long out of business. A big career mistake that took years for me to recover from.

Being optomistic? Yes - I guess that is my viewpoint!
Why? You are not able to separate the mistake from the outcome?
OK, I will give it a try:
I made a mistake once. I was not happy about the outcome but I don't want to discuss the details.
