Ohio VFW Post searching for veteran's family after Purple Heart found in Blue Ash

The commander of a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post just north of Dayton is trying to locate the family of a Cincinnati-area Vietnam veteran.

The Purple Heart medal for Private First Class Leonard J. Brown was first discovered at a construction site in Blue Ash.

He believes that Brown was possibly wounded in Vietnam based on his term of service. Brown died on April 8, 2012. He is buried at Dayton National Cemetery.


"If there's family out there, his name is Leonard J. Brown. He was born in January 1947," Stomberger said. "So if his family is out there, give us a call."

I am posting this in Retirement because most of us are of that age and hopefully someone will read this and know about PFC Brown and his family.

A Death Cert text only listing at Ancestry.com lists his occupation as a Corrections Officer at a jail.

Maybe someone in Ohio could contact the local jails or state prison for family info.
