How to not look old. How to not have old hair. How to wear makeup so you don't look old. How to dress so you don't look old. Every time I go online there is something like this that pops up and I am sick of it.

Iam old. Nothing will stop that and I don't like to follow their suggested rules.

For example, unless I'm wearing a tuck-in shirt, I DO wear "mom jeans." It screams grandmother. Well, I am a grandmoher AND a great grandmother. I'm sticking with my "mom jeans."

I'm supposed to wear less makeup. I wear little makeup anyway, but when I do wear it I wear eyeliner. If I don't, my eyes dissapear. When I was younger and wore makeup I ussually went without mascara. Now, I wear iit, along with a little lip gloss and maybe a bit of blush on my cheeks. When I was younger, when I wore makeup I wore tons of eyeshadow, concealer, foundation, contour etc. If I wanted to still wear that stuff, I would. I just don' care to. Except for a very rare cat-eye, because I like it.

floral prints are a "no no," but I LOVE floral shirts so I wear them and always will. And black, that's bad too. But I feel better in it, so I still wear it.

My crazy hair has ALWAYS been a problem. I no longer worry about it. It has always had a "life of it's own," now I just let it live it live it's best life and I'll live mine.

And leggings. I love leggings! I always make sure my butt and some thigh arre covered and I just love how hey work for me.

These how not to look old things popping up make it more difficult to remember that age, every age, is beautiful and I don' appreciate them.

Meh. There have always been oodles of articles telling women how to be "X" or not to be "Y".

I do what's best for me, whether it is too look "younger", or to ignore it because I don't care about certain things.

Take what you can use and leave what you don't.

Generally speaking, I like to stay "current", ish. I've never been trendy, but yeah, I have a variety of styles, based upon the ones I like.

I no longer do matte style make-up, and lean towards a more dewy style, my plucked eyebrows on trend in my youth, are a more heavy style.

I wear what's flattering for my body type, and yeah, lean much more towards comfort.

Everyone should do what makes them happy and feel good.

Smile I get these also....

Kind of like click bait but they come up all the time -

For me, it's articles like "Boomers need to stop doing these things in order not to look old"

I can't remember all of them but some of them relate to the millennials as well. One was really
stupid but here's a couple I remember -

(1) Sneakers - New Balance dates you (well, my husband is a size 13 and he loves his NB shoes)

(2) White socks up to the knees - Well, for me anyway, this is a NEVER and if my husband ever did this, I would die of embarrassment. I like just wearing shoes without socks but he wears a low sock.

(3) Hair crunchies - I wear these at night and if I'm going for a walk, I'll put my hair up in ponytail and wear one. I mean, what else are you supposed to wear?

My husband's aunt was an extremely frugal person; she passed at 92 but she dyed her hair (went to the salon), got her nails and toes done too!! Good for her if that made her feel good. (She has a daughter who would have been 20 years younger and we have a picture of her whole family - most people think the daughter is the mother!) You never know.

Personally, I'm the one not as good looking as others in my family. My sisters are thin, former cheerleaders and my brother (the football player hunk). They wear their Lilly Pulitzer dresses to everything and those just look hideous on me!! Believe me, I've tried. I'm just kind of a Plain Jane. I dress kind of like Jackie O did - one color stuff; preppy styles work for me.

Men skip the scraggly beards and comb your hair.

For the past week or so I'm getting the big boob-ed woman in the Viagra ad on my opening browser page. I really want to get rid of that nonsense. I find it highly offensive, like a woman who looks and dresses like her is the only attractive female there is especially since I'm a female senior citizen. Have no idea why they are pitching a 44DD in a stretchy low cut shirt at me in a Viagra ad.

As for the original question, I'm with those who say be true to yourself. I wear eye makeup and lipstick because I wouldn't have a face if I didn't. I don't wear eyeliner anymore, but never really did (except smoky kohl pencil as a lower liner).

There is a knack to choosing clothing that doesn't age you or make you look like you're trying to be 30 again and I'm pretty sure I've always been able to find it. Yeah, I miss wearing cute stuff that I used to wear when younger, but I have to satisfy myself by simply looking at the photo ads instead of actually wearing it.

I'm a lifelong long-hair person, but it won't grow past a couple inches below my collar bone anymore without looking stringy. Stringy is one of my main pet peeves of all time. I can't tolerate stringy wispy hair. Blunt cut looks healthy, and I think it makes one look "younger" if that is the goal.
