I live in New York with my two little children and I´m planning to move to Providence, RI. I feel a little bit scaring because I have no idea about how´s the life in that city. I´m just looking for a better place to live, more quiet and cheaper than NYC. Could you guys tell me something about Providence?

Do you have a job offer? We have a very high unemployment rate. Coming here without a job would not be advisable.

Providence is a nice city, many people from NYC end up doing the same. It's certainly much better than Hartford, CT or Springfield, MA. People are friendly and RI is great in the summer.

I know a few people who left NYC to come here. They wanted a different pace of life, but still wanted the amenities of a city. Providence has all that. Some even live here without a car without any problems.

It's a safe city. I know plenty of people with kids in our school system (some will say it's bad, but these people are all educated and don't seem to mind it). The cost of living will be less than NYC, obviously. The food is top notch.

I think you'll like it, to be honest. I would definitely come here and visit though. Maybe spend a weekend or a couple days during the week here and have a look around.

Thanks for the information. Safety and education are VERY important matters for me in making this decision. Thank you so much!
