Hello! My husband and I are considering Providence to relocate from Brooklyn with our two young children.
I have been reading a lot about the schools in Ri, I am hoping to get some advice on a gentle school environment (preferably public) - specifically; high teacher to student ratio, nice feeling environment, experiential learning, a strong art component, engaged parents. My oldest gets lost in a crowd, and the schools in Brooklyn (at least, in our neighborhood) are very overcrowded - one of the many reasons we want to find a better place to raise our family. I have read enough to see that the public schools in Providence have some issues -- I would love to hear if anyone here has had positive experiences in the area. I would also love to hear about any wonderful private schools, as well (though Im not sure how realistic that is).

There really doesn't seem to be anyone active on this forum with direct, first-hand experience with Providence schools. Everyone on this forum either spreads word-of-mouth reputation or relies on ratings which may or may not present an accurate picture.

Thanks in advance!
We are moving out of RI asap! The student teacher ratios are very high in and around Providence. Example last year 4th grade 27:1, 1st grade 23:1 those are high!
Schools are mediocore at best, high taxes/fees/insurance rates, "Rhude" people, political corruption is constantly on the front page & people can't drive! Good luck either way though!
