The moral panic/hysteria continues...

Quote:
A sneaker-clad Latino state senator in Rhode Island is objecting to his chamber’s jacket and dress shirt edict as a form of white oppression.

“These rules make it OK for us to judge people based on the way they dress or how they look, and I just feel that’s super problematic,” said Jonathon Acosta, the 31-year-old Democratic state senator from Rhode Island. “I assure you that what I wear does not influence the quality of the work I produce.”

Dress codes are meant to show mutual respect. However, this can take many directions. A jacket & tie can suffice, but so can many other culturally diverse forms of respectful dress. As an opposite example, sweatpants disrespect every indoor public environment they find themselves in, except the gym. You kind of know disrespectful dress when you see it. And, it's casual & shouldn't be allowed at the statehouse.

Kind of speaks for itself. Somebody worthy of respect and fit to be a leader, or a spoiled brat looking for attention?

I pity his constituents, although they are of course ultimately responsible for this mess they have representing them.

It's not the State House; it's an auditorium at RIC.

Guess Mr. Acosta will have to get dressed like a big boy.
