I certainly recall that redplum was discussing the summer of 2022 at one point, probably during this past winter when he was around. That is what is meant by "past tense". And I totally understood how that's what he was referring to with his "correction". Not sure why you are having such a tough time understanding that?
Because he never changed "I posted last summer" to "I posted last winter" as you propose. Either of those actions would be past tense
"There have now been ten homicides in Providence in 2023."
To offer a little more perspective, compare Providence to Boston. Boston has had 20 homicides so far this year. So Providence has had 1/2 the number of homicides as Boston, but with only 29% of Boston's population.

This is worthy of being posted. And noted. Providence and Boston are both relatively safe but the amount of gun violence in both is disturbing. It really is OK to admit that we both have problem areas in our cities.

Who could object to admitting there are gun violence problems in almost every city in America (and virtually everywhere)? Are there cities safer & less safe than Providence or Boston? Of course, there are. That Providence is comparatively safe is the narrative that is factual. Rather than the breathless sensational copy/paste crime narrative fed here, that it isn't.
