30 in providence or 30 in boston which is better? (theater, school)

I will be moving to providence ri and commuting to boston for grad school once a week this fall. Im 30 yrs. old and single, ive posted similiar to this before..but out of curiosity where do single 30 yr. olds hang out in providence? Would i have to commute to boston to hang out with people my age?
Also eventually i plan on moving to boston, probably the brighton or cambridge area...has anyone started in providence and moved to boston? what was your take on it? did u like boston better?

Go straight to Boston. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, take the get out of jail card for free.
No comparison for a 30 yr. old. Boston is BEST for everything. It might cost you more a few yrs. to live in/near Boston. Trains are running all the time. You will get THE best contacts for your career in Boston. (You can always visit Prov. if you feel the need.)
I'm 32 and prefer Providence. If you want a big city though, definitely go with Boston. If you prefer more compact cities with much of the amenities a bigger city has to offer, Providence will be just fine.
For hanging out, then Providence is your best bet. I find it has a better restaurant/bar scene and also a better chance to get to know people. In Boston, you don't get that much. In fact, you have to travel more to Somerville or Cambridge to get that vibe, which is fine but it just adds more hassle. Plus, given that the T closes at 12:30 or so, you won't be able to hangout very long before having to head back.
If you're looking for "hanging out" as in going to museums or theater, though, then Boston has the advantage for that.

Rnrboy, thanks i was worried i would feel out of place in providence because everyone keeps telling me it's only for 20 yr. olds, i guess because of the colleges. Oddly though when i went to visit in April, i didn't really see many college students..hmmm maybe i just wasn't paying attention. I have a car which is ggod because i see the t doesnt run to providence after 10pm, and my class would end at that time.
Oh i forgot to add that i'm a female, so saftey is a concern, but i hear the east side of providence is nice. i guess i'm just worried about the travel factor..i have a car, but i wonder if i might serve me better to be in boston since my school is there?
It seems from your original post that grad school is only once a week. Will you be working in Providence? And for the record I'm a 29 year old women who prefers PVD to Boston. Which you will like better really depends on your personality.
I will be working in boston. I can take the T to work because its a daytime job. But im wondering if overall adding the commute costs..if boston might actually be more affordable for me?
