Is there any areas that offer affordable homes with good schools? Say 225 and under?

It depends on how big of a house you need. Try Brandermill or Settlers Landing, both in Chesterfield County. Both have excellent schools. If you can afford $225,000, I'd look at homes up to at least $250,000. The market is so slow right now, people are often taking a lot less than asking price.
