Hi everyone,

I'm still considering moving to Richmond.

I do work for the V.A. in New Hampshire and wanted to keep my job to make moving easy as possible.

Does anyone know of any V.A.'s outside of Richmond that are easily accessible and don't take 2-3 hrs to get to?

I understand that Forts Lee & Eustace are nearby and that Newport News and Virginia Beach have federal work as well.

Thank you kindly,
stefos1

Hi Charlesaf3,

Unfortunately, I don't qualify for any work there.

It seems that Richmond, VA is a VERY difficult place to work in.

Guess I'll try northern Virginia.

Thanks!

I would be interested too Stefos1, in why it has that rep?? I too am looking at East Coast VA opportunites. Most jobs in the govt are on the usajobs.gov website. The application process is tedious and the wait, long. Just have to suck it up and do all the first time computer forms very well, then it lets you re-use them so subsequent applications are easier. Good luck

I would definitely recommend perusing Fort Lee. With the BRAC growth, Fort Lee has an additional 5000 troops, and of course that means an increased number of retirees in the coming years. Fort Lee also opened a satellite medical facility on the new Ordnance campus.

And while it might not be the most desired places to work, there are two federal prisons in Prince George (low and medium security) that would allow you to stay in the GS system. Good luck!!
