We're getting close to the move, and having no familiarity with doctors, can anyone recommend a good (i.e. skilled, friendly, good staff, short wait times etc.)...

The Carilion Brambleton Family Physicians on Brambleton Ave SW is a good operation in my opinion. If you are looking to find a physician this would be my first place to go. I don't believe all Drs. take on new patients around here.

I agree with all these suggestions. We use Dr. Mayershak on the corner of Colonial and Electric Rd. (989-4549) in SW county. They also have a good pediatric-only dentist in their office and are good if you are scared of the dentist. Your wife should check out the Newcomers Club
