Here's what I need, in order of preference:

Clean, no smells and no bugs (cute little spiders are ok)

Out of earshot of highways and airports and boom cars and barking dogs

Absolute soundproofing. I do vocal practice at 4am and occasionally even practice my saxophone during the daylight hours. I don't want to hear anyone else and I don't want to make anyone else have to hear me.

Prefer to be up higher than ground level. I just like to.
Prefer not to be in a barren suburb (minor preference)
Don't care about "amenities" like pools, in fact I generally don't like them.
Not looking for expensive but if I have to pay...

Any suggestions? I mean besides go jump in the lake.

Thank you for your kind attention.

After you go jump in a lake...

If you can find an apartment with such thick walls and/or privacy where no neighbors can hear you practicing, I'd say that you will likely not be exposed to their smells either. This is technically the south, however, and bugs are the norm. I just saw a stinkbug the other day...walking into my office.
I'm going to say that you will likely not get more than a couple of your "must-haves" in any one apartment situation. Maybe look into a small rental house or something?

Having looked at housing for what seemed like forever last year, I'd say skip the apartment buildings and look for a single family home to rent.

Apartment buildings aren't known for solid construction. Even if you find a place with great neighbors who fit all your criteria, those folks can move and new ones can move in changing the dynamic.

They do have small houses for rent in and around the area. Talk to MKB realtors property management. I know there are other rental agencies out there. Other posters know them by name and I'm sure if you ask, they'll chime in.
