Hi guys, it's me again. You'll probably see a lot more questions/threads from me in the next couple of months as I'm researching the possibility of a move to Rochester.

I have found the link belowwith info on events and festivals in Rochester, but I always like to get some info from people's personal experiences. It puts things in context and maybe in a different perspective.

Festivals

What are your views on the events/festivals - which are they popular ones, and are they in general things the locals are looking forward to and enjoy?

Festivals are a big thing here, and yes people absolutely look forward to them. I think the ones listed on that link are a pretty good group of the "big" festivals but there are also smaller more localized ones. It seems like many of the canal towns have some kind of festival at some point over the summer, South Wedge has its Real Beer Week, Greek Fest on East Ave, etc. I can't really say one festival is better than another, most have their own feel and it's kind of just up to what you're into.

That would be...all of them!!!

Rochester has great food and about 120 wineries within the Finger Lakes region. And an explosion of craft breweries. https://fingerlakesbeertrail.com/content/

Welcome.

Welcome.
Wow, thanks!

Well, this is just gonna make my decision so much easier I love my wine.

What about farmers markets and stuff, how big are people there on buying local, fresh produce?

Downtown Rochester has a thriving and growing public market that is open year round, but not every day. There are neighborhood open markets all over the city and suburbs too. Wegmans sells all kinds of locally grown food. Food growing and processing is pretty large in the region. The NY Wine and Culinary Center is in Canandaigua.

To give you some perspective,

The Lilac Festival draws 500,000 each year
The Jazz Fest draws over 200,000
The Park Ave Festival draws over 300,000
The Corn Hill Festival draws over 200,000 each year

So the "big" festivals alone draw over 1.2 million people to them each year.
