You know you live in a small town:
When everyone in town knows your dog and it's background.

You know you live in a small town when:

there are more cows and sheep than people

when the "streets" are mostly dirt and have no names (try explaining that one to UPS)

when the town consists of a 2 room school, post office, and bar.

when you only have to dial the last 4 numbers when you call another local

Btw, a town of 20 thousand persons is definitely not a small town. It might be called a large town or small city but not a small town. In fact, in some states that would qualify as a large city. LOL

The above are from a place I used to live, not my current location.

I passed on it, but there is really no reason I would have been asked to join the party, except it is a small town, and most people are very friendly.
Meh, I would have totally gone in. I love crashing parties. Lol.

20,000 is small town, especially if that town of 20,000 is located in a major metropolitan area that has more than 1 million people.

So Millbrae, California with it's population of 20,000 is a small town because it is located in the Bay Area, which is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States.

I suggest the better label for Milbrae is suburb.

A community set within a much larger metro area is commonly called a borough.

It is NOT a 'small' town of 20,000. It is a 4 block district of a densely populated metro-city with over 1,000,000 people living within 20 miles.

I was at a local flea market today and a message came over the loud speaker, "There's a horse and buggy that came loose from the hitch and is wandering off..." We have a lot of Amish in this area, and they frequent the flea market on Saturdays.

News Video,

High schoolers drive tractors to school.

EDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) - About six years ago students at a southern tier high school found an interesting way to end the school year.

It’s a unique tradition that grows each year, students drive their tractors to school for one day.
