Why would it be a problem? I would pick to live across from the elementary school especially if you have children or are planning on having children. I grew up next to one and I loved it as a kid and so did my parents.

If you're not a stay-at-home 24/7 type you may want to install a security alarm in case the little devils get too frisky after school lets out but overall it wouldn't discourage ME from buying a house that was otherwise desirable.

You will have a lot of traffic at drop off and pickup and any extra curricular activity times. And noise related to the school kids.

Dropoff and pickup times will raise your ire, especially if you are in a hurry. Any hint of not moving your car with ultra-vigilant care and stopping an extra 20-30 seconds at a crosswalk will immediately draw dagger-glares of hostility from Moms who adopt their animal protection instincts and react as if you're threatening their young. Believe me, I'm a parent of a 3rd & 5th grader (albeit a Dad), and I sometimes just roll my eyes at the overreaction of some of the mothers when your moving vehicle comes within 50 feet of their kids traveling at 3 MPH or faster! Anyways.....other than that caveat, I see no risk in moving across an elementary school. Oh, if you intend on having a home office, make sure there's a room on the side of the house that faces away from the school! Kids voices will carry right into conference calls!
