I know this might sound silly, but does asparagus grow here? I grew up in Idaho where it grew wild along the ditch banks.

I'm thinking I might try to grow some this year in my yard.

Western Garden (several locations but closest is next to Trolley Square on 600 East) would have not only the answer but all the details you would need to know. As I recall it is an early Spring vegetable? At least in Europe where there were special dishes for the first asparagus.

I've never been there, thanks for the tip. I'll definitely check that place out!

I have seen wild asparagus along country roads here in Utah.
The best thing is to check with the source S'belle suggested.

This guy lives in Utah, and he found it also!!

He writes about it but does not tell you where ...

The thing is, that when you find a patch, you guard it like when somebody find truffles ....

When you try to grow it, realise that it grows along ditches that have water in it most of the year.
Farm lands are a good place to look, but ask the owner if you can access his ditch banks !!!
Also ask if he sprays his land with pesticide. He does (?), forget eating that stuff.
