My wife and I passed through SLC on the way home from family. We stayed at a hotel in downtown. I fell in love with the city. I just want to shout out to you all for making such a wonderful city. Stay classy SLC!

I think a lot of people are pleasantly surprised when they visit Salt Lake. The thing is, most of them don't take the time to write such a nice post. So thank you, and come back soon!

I'll second what Katzpur wrote. So many question almost everything about UT and SLC, except whether there is running water and electricity. At some point you have to visit to see if it works for you. Either way, you have to make the decision, we don't. No two cities are the same.

NYC natives complain about food and more in L.A. and vice versa, but many things are similar with enough being different. Vacations are partly about getting re-charged through the difference somewhere else. Voluntary relocation for work or other reasons will always show differences between the current and new location.

How a person approaches change and new opportunities, IMO, has a lot to do with a happier relocation or visit.

Nice to see such a classy post from the OP

I think our initial and anticipated opinion was neutral. I knew very little about the city other than it was close to the mountains and the ski slopes. As we drove west on I-80 coming from Evanston, it was amazing how close the slopes truly were to the city. I found the downtown city to be logically laid out whilst keeping a degree of character. The positioning of the capital building is perfect. We didn't interact with many, but we had a very positive vibe overall. The nature and urban mix is very well done. Given the opportunity to move, work, and raise a family in SLC, I probably would give it a shot. Thanks!
