For internet it really depends on what you want to do. If you are just getting on to check your mail and post on Facebook or Twitter, etc you can get away with just about anyone's cheapest plan.

If there is a need for streaming content (Netflix, Hulu, etc) or if there are kids that game online, you really need Roadrunner and possibly Roadrunner Turbo.

Bottom line is that it depends on what you are going to do.

At the risk of sounding snarky, I'd be interested in who comprised that consensus. It is a well known fact that TW compresses their HD signal horribly and doesnt even compare to DISH which is commonly referred to as "HD-Lite"

tw has great internet, but lousy tv. this is coming from folks who don't really watch all that much though (so we really didn't need or care about hd channels, recording, a dozen extra movie stations, etc in the first place).

we go near the top shelf for tw cable internet (i don't recall what plan or exactly how much we spend on it. less than the tv i know that) and do a lot of on demand streaming and content through the xbox. it's not necessary for us to have a monthly service that costs that much for how little we use it.

so, my personal recommendation is rr for internet, as we've been happy with it ever since we got it, but loathed the tv service.

sigh. tv ala carte. what a nice dream.

We are fairly new to the area and started off with internet on AT&T and Directv. We don't have a landline and use Vonage online for our phone needs. From day one we had issues with AT&T dropping out and not being able to load a 30 second video. Yes, we had filters on all our phone lines (when you have Directv you have to do this). I finally had enough and have switched to Time Warner. We've had it for just over a week and I couldn't be happier. I've been able to watch Netflix over the internet and skype with my deployed husband with no dropouts. We live in the NW part of town and I've noticed that most neighbors use TW.

Thanks for all the inputs! I do use a lot of internet and frequently watch movies online. But I don't play any online games. It seems Road Runner Standard might be a good choice.
I think I'm going to decide my TV provider between TW and Dish...
