Just curious on how much others paid to have crown molding installed in your home. I have looked around and I have found a guy on Craigslist that will install it for a $1 per foot. While all others have told me anywhere from $150-250 to install about 40 feet of work involving 6 different 90 degree cuts. Starting in the dining room first. I have just considered renting the equipment from home depot and doing it myself but I do not know how that will work out. I guess the total for that would be roughly 160 for materials and tool rental and I would be done. minus the entire weekend to do the work

What's difficult is when your walls aren't square (and most aren't). We also have a ceiling in our living room that is at a weird angle (about 120*) in places due to the pitch of the roof. So the top of the crown would be "free floating". In addition, those corners would be very difficult.

We did put up our own crown in three other rooms, but I can see some of the joints, and it bugs me.

I did see an ad a few months back in one of those home magazines from the mail...he was asking $3 LF. For reference, when we built our house in '01, Ryland wanted $5 LF.
