In high school, students would rave about this Chess House, which was a house in San Antonio that had chess pieces on top.
On googling this, I found nothing except for this video, shot by a former classmate. Proof that it exists but where and what's the backstory?

I've never been there personally because I've never been able to locate it, but it does look incredibly similar!

I love the game so my curiosity is instantly piqued. One of those videos states there is a full chess board with pieces set up on the other side of the gate. Unfortunately it is not public property since I would love to play a game on that board. Used to play with friends at restaurants, libraries, parties, on the job, it has been a while...

I believe the Chess House is on Bar X Trail, close to Bar D Trail, in Helotes.

Oh, and they're not chess pieces, they're English chimney pots like these!
They just look like chess pieces from a distance, and the flat roof of the house gives the appearance of a chess board.
