I'm moving into an apt. complex with an outside pool. My sense is that it's unheated. Which months of the year can I use it?

Weather is one of the primary factors for moving to SA. I can't wait to rub it in to my friends in DC/Baltimore/NY that I'll be swimming in an outside pool while they shovel snow.

I was born and grew up in El Paso and I never really got used to the cold weather in DC, even though I lived there for 25 years.

I usually start using my pool sometime in May. Before that it is still kinda chilly. (at least for me)

We were just in the Valley, staying in a hotel with an outdoor pool. The weather was warm; the pool was COLD! So it was nice to lie by the pool, and to stick our tootsies in, but we weren't going in any farther than that!

Usually about mid-May you will find it HOT HOT enough outside that you will want to take a dip in the pool to cool off. Most of the actualy pool seasons is May - Late October. Not saying that you can't use the pool if you decide any other time unless they physically lot it down. My apartment I lived in before we bought our house was always open and they also had a hot tub attached. Now I can tell you that you could have a nice relaxing afternoon laying out by the pool catching some rays right now.

I am also from the MD/DC area and my friends hate when I post how nice it is here and they are still freezing. Don't get me wrong we do have some cold spells though in the winter and we had ice this year that shut the city down.

There are SOME places, though, where the summers are sooo pleasant that I won't mind the icy weather during the rest of the months. A summer in Wisconsin is pretty darn close to nirvana, really. Texas might get a total of 14 days of that kind of weather per year. The answer is a summer home there and a winter home in Texas.

Yes. When I hit the lotto, we're going to have a summer home in the St. Louis area (the better to catch a Cards game) and a winter home in SA.

I am so the exact opposite. I am planning to move to the Carribean. I am a total beach girl and love HOT weather. Below 70 and I am freezing so growing up in Maryland was hard because winters there are a damp cold. Counting down until May when my hubby and I head to Punta Cana for vacation which is where we plan to retire.

You and I think alike I love HOT weather and I'm a total Caribbean bum since I love to scuba. Punta Cana is awesome--some of the best beaches I've ever seen. But I do like Cabarete if I"m going to the DR.

I hope you and your husband find a great place in PC.

Cheers!
