Hello there,

I am moving to San Antonio for a job at the VA hospital. I'm looking for a studio apartment in a nice and safe neighborhood nearby. My budget is $400-$650. I would prefer that the apartment complex has covered parking spaces. I am also willing to find complexes that are a bit farther from the VA hospital, maybe a 30-minute drive max, just as long as the area is safe, clean, and friendly. No complaints about mold, infestations, drugs, and all that kind of stuff. Also, I'd prefer that it'd be close to grocery stores and restaurants, basically convenient to everything if that's possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've also seen this apartment complex online called The Estates at Briggs Ranch. It looks very nice and has a studio that fits my budget. Only thing is that it looks to be far from everything and out there. Any opinions about this place?

Thank you very much!!

The complex you mentioned is at 90 and 211. I thought the VA hospital was in the medical center, which is kind of far from that complex. You would probably have at least a 45 minute drive to work if there was any traffic at all. Also, don't know if you're the type who would be bothered by it, but there's a state prison at 90 and 1604 which is right down the road.

You would probably do better looking at complexes on Bandera rd near 1604, or even in the medical center area itself.

The Medical Center, where the VA is located, has plenty of apartments within that range. Since this is a more suburban area of the city I would recommend going to forrent.com and just typing in 78229 as your location and start from there. If there is a particular complex that you find you like let us know and we can try to give you the lowdown. There are some parts of the area that can be a bit rundown, but for the most part its an alright area and within your price range.

This site has a map of apartments in San Antonio. You can filter out places that are outside of your budget and see exactly how close they are to the VA hospital

Every Last Apartment in San Antonio - a map of San Antonio Apartments

As ashbeeigh says, if a particular place catches your eye, it might be possible to give you a little more feedback.

Good luck

I just moved into my own home from a 10 mo. stay in a studio apartment in Helotes that would be ideal for you as a single lady (I assume). I emailed my landlady your post and she said it was all right to inform you about it. However, I don't have any way to contact you through CD and I don't believe I can give info. in my post. Send me a Direct Message and I will give you the information.I do not have internet service right now so am getting on my new sub's WiFi via their library. I will respond as soon as I get online again and receive your DM.
