I noticed a big long thread on being "young, hip, and liberal" and wanted to know what it's like to be be young, hip, and libertarian in San Antonio.

The word liberal means many different things around the world but it seems to be generally accepted in the U.S. to mean the use of government force and intervention to advance certain social and economic "justice" causes. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be negative, it's just that as a libertarian I don't like it when a bunch of moralistic crusaders try to use government to enforce their moralistic world view onto other people (Note: these crusaders can obviously be from the right and left).

What is the general political climate like in San Antonio for the young and hip who don't want to be forced into the "liberal" stereotype? It just gets really old when people assume you must be a leftist or "liberal" to be urbane, cultured, young, and hip.

I guess it would be interesting to hear how everyone feels about city politics in general, is there a lot to worry about from a meddlesome/interventionist standpoint? In other words is there a history of abusing eminent domain (taking private property on behalf of private developers), wasting city resources on the "war on drugs", continually raising taxes, etc...
