Hello all,
I’m one of the new students of UTSA (CS, PhD program), starting from Fall 08 semester. Some of you may recognize me if you read my last thread ($1500 per month, is it enough? ( UTSA Grad Student ) ). Thanks to all of you again for your helps that you did at that time. It really means a lot to me. Well, I’m very happy to inform you guys, that I finally chose UTSA. I got accepted from 4 universities, but considering each and every factors I chose UTSA. Thanks to UTSA for giving me this opportunity and considering me as one of its student.

At first I didn’t know much more about San Antonio. I just knew UTSA and applied there. But during my investigation time, I’ve read a lot of San Antonio. And now I realized that I’m so lucky that I got not only a good university but also chose a great, friendly and one of the best cities of US. During this time, I’ve collected more than 300 pictures of San Antonio. Simply it’s awesome. What a beautiful city it is! I can’t wait anymore. I’ve already fallen in love for its beauty.

My orientation is on August 13, 2008. Probably I’ll start my journey for UTSA on the first week of August. Please pray for me. I’ve couple of questions to ask. I’ll try to post those questions in a separate topic. But one question I think it’s pretty related with my journey. So, I’m asking that question right now. Here it is:

Which one will be shortest (cheapest too) one, if I want to come from outside US?
  • JFK(NY)-> Dallas/Houston->San Antonio(By road)
  • LA(Los Angeles)->Dallas/Houston->San Antonio(By road)
Is there any direct flight from JFK/LA to San Antonio?

I’m eagerly waiting for your answer. Thank you again for your time and help.

regards
- deadcoder

i have no info on the flights but wanted to say congratulations on your move to SA --- and also congrats on getting accepted to 4 universities and having the privilege of choosing 1 out of 4 --- that is a very big honor and accomplishment and says tons about you and your character --- your parents should be extremely proud of you and you should be equally proud of yourself!!!

There are non-stop flights from LAX to SAT. I don't think there are any from JFK, but there are some from EWR (Newark). There are also plenty of flights from DFW and IAH to SAT, so why drive?

Aren't there non-stops between SAT and LaGuardia? Its closer to JFK than Newark Int'l.

The only non-stop to the NYC area is through Newark.

Welcome...you have your work cut out for you, but you should enjoy the journey while here at UTSA.

Also try Bestfares.com for good pricing on international tickets.

DH is just over the hump (there is an end in sight!!!) of his PhD...not easy for sure, but worth the effort!!!

Also Philly to SA has nonstop now.
