With all the dust flying around from high winds the last few days, I am not surprised people are sniffly and coughing.

If there is something going around I need to wear a face mask! Just last week I got over something I had since October 4. I only remember the date because I had a big work event that day. Worst ongoing sore throat of my life! I thought it was tonsilitis. Yuck!

My dr. recommended one of those but I just can't get over the fact that I would have to stick that thing in my nose. i just use saline spray (yes, I know, that goes up your nose too) I have had a sinus thing for about 3-4 days w/ a sore scratchy throat. I hate only being able to breathe through one side of my nose. Makes me feel lopsided.

I've heard other people say that the neti pot is helpful. As someone who despises having water up his nose, I've always been afraid that a neti pot would feel like drowning. What does it really feel like?

Has anyone heard of anybody being diagnosed with "pneumatic strep"??? My daughter lives down near Poteet and one of her in-law's kids was apparently diagnosed with it. They said it was a combo of pneumonia and strep and that there's NO MEDICINE for it ~ that no scripts work for it! WTH?!! I thought that sounded pretty wacky, but then again ~ it IS Poteet!

Actually, I've been using one for the past three days and it's definitely helped! I too thought that it would be uncomfortable (I have a very sensitive nose). On the contrary, I'm looking forward to using it today.

WHAT?!?!?!!? She can take an antiboitic for strep. You can take the pills, liquid or just take the shot (we do the shot and get over Strep quicker).

As for what is going on right now................. It is that time of year. You have a fluctuation in temps. The wind changes direction which stirs up different things. North one day bringing in the Cedar, South the next w/ moisture from the gulf. I have it as well and my asthmatic daughter is barking like a seal (if your kid has that cough then find a good allergy/asthma doctor). The drip down my throat and in my nose is ANNOYING! It burns and chokes me going down my throat. I like the Chloraseptic throat spray to kind of numb my throat. If your not on an everyday allergy med and this is bothering you then you need your doctor to put you on something. I take Singulair and hubby takes Allegra. Our insurance won't cover Allegra D so the doctor said to take Allegra w/ a Sudafed and it is the same. When mine are really flared up I take the Singulair as well as a Benedryl for the itchy allergy stuff and/or Sudafed for the sinus pressure and congestion.

For the stuffy nose - Zicam Sinus Congestion Relief. OHMY! It will clear your nose so fast that it will hurt to breath.

If your getting a cold then try the Zicam Cold Remedy nasal gel. Our asthma doctor is the one that told us about it and said it has been shown it works really good if you start it w/in the first 24 hours of symptoms. I keep a double box of this stuff on hand. First signs I start pumping them full of Vitiman C, Orange Juice and the Zicam. Fine in 2 days.

I have also found the Zicam Allergy Relief nasal gel to help with an itchy nose.
