Can anyone recommend an endo or an internist that prescribes Armour Thyroid? Thanks!

I have heard that Dr. LaCivitia with UHS does - but haven't confirmed yet.

I'm still on thyroid supressing meds myself until we get my grave's disease fixed.

I found that it was a bear to get the stuff at local pharmacies. Both Walgrens and CVS were constantly out of it. Or they had not your size dosage pill and you had to go through Rx rewrite/insurance hell to get it filled.

The doc who gave me the Rx turned out to be a doofus so I won't recommend. Went off my plan and when I asked his staff what an office visit would cost, they went off the deep end and yelled at me. So I was annoyed at that and responded.

So the doc said he had to let me go. I told him that he didn't understand as he worked for me and YOU'RE FIRED!

That's doesn't help the OP though.

Good luck.

Hi! I'm moving to the area in two weeks and I'm also on Armour Thyroid for an under-active thyroid (Armour is still difficult for the pharmacies to fill, seems like the manufacturer isn't producing the stuff quick enough!). Anyway, did you ever find a doctor that prescribes Armour (comfortably)? Not too many will prescribe it & prefer to prescribe Synthroid over Armour. If you have found a doctor is it one you would recommend? Not sure if they'll allow you to post physcians or groups here?

Thanks!

I didn't find one yet. I'm even open to Nature-Throid/Westhroid. ANYTHING at this point other than Synthroid! Ugh.

Oh no! How frustrating! Did you at least find a doc that you like? Is an endocrinologist prescribing the synthroid? The one I saw briefly here in NC, only would prescribe Synthroid, and he had a horrid bedside manner & looked younger than my 29 year old son!

There is a nationwide shortage of Armour but I found a pharmacy that makes it (my doc called me about it) and they will ship it to you. They just need to speak with your physician. Keefer Pharmacy, Mount Prospect Il
