Last night we had a water test performed on our water in the house from a gentleman who said he was with oasis water solutions, a branch with GE. After 2hrs of testing, and sales pitches, we ended up with a so called deal of a 100,000 grain water softener, free installation, lifetime warranty, and something along the lines of 5-10 years of household products for cleaning and laundry. All in all the total cost was $6900, which is a ridiculous price in my view, however I just wanted to get feedback if anyone has ever used such a company? they claimed to be based out of california, but are moving into the southern region.

What no steak knives or toaster?....I suspect that about 1/3 of the total cost is for the sales commission.

I'll bet that this Slick Salesman. (not from the soft water) told you all that the water was of poor quality. These folks are like a snake in the grass and they'll convice you that you have to treat the water. Yes as you know the water is hard which cannot harm us. Sure you have a little more household maintenance but it's something San Antonioan's have lived with for years.

SAWS get calls from folks frequently due to a salesperson scaring the HELL out of them, especially the Elderly or New Residents (Out of State / Area). I'm not implying that you were scared but I know how these people work.

$6900.00 is a very steep price even if your home is not plumbed for a softener. If you want a softener I would stick with someone local and honest. I suggest RAYNE or River City Water Treatment. I have dealt with these folks many times I''ll assure you they won't rip you off.

One of the best websites for Water Softeners is www.nsf.org .

If I can ask what did he test for. Did he tell you that the water had high levels / concentrations of anything?
