We are in the process of moving to SD and my husband will move ahead of me and kids and he will have a job. If both our names are on vehicle titles, will we have to register when he gets there or can it wait til summer when both of us have "officially" moved/rented a house? He will be staying at a campground but will have a CA DL.

Thanks!

Once you establish residency in CA, you have to transfer your car over to CA. I think it has to be done within 30 days.

AAA can do the transfer for you if you're a member. No charge and no lines.

Much easier than waiting in line at DMV. But AAA can't issue a driver's license, so you need to make an appointment at DMV for that.
